Custom Stainless Steel Fabricator HOLLOWAY AMERICA Expands CNC Department
The custom pressure vessel manufacturer recently allocated a new property to accommodate demand and streamline its growing CNC presence.
HOLLOWAY AMERICA recently moved its CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining operation to a larger facility on its Springfield, Missouri campus. The department’s expansion comes on the heels of HOLLOWAY AMERICA’s recent induction into the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA’s) Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP).
HOLLOWAY, which specializes in pressure vessel fabrication, Precision Stainless Tanks and Pressure Vessels, and other forms of custom machinery, first purchased the 40,000 sq. ft. building in 2014 and reconfigured it to function as shipping and receiving, pre-processing, industrial fabrication, warehouse and full-time, dedicated quality control space for the company’s CNC department. “It started as an empty building, and we transformed it for our specific fabrication and machining needs,” said HOLLOWAY Director of Marketing Randy Colwell. He added, “Thanks to the expansion, our CNC department has more than doubled the square footage of usable space from 3,000 square feet to approximately 7,420 square feet.”
Improved Department Processes from Every Angle
The shop’s square footage expansion will allow HOLLOWAY’s CNC department to make additional strides with new customers and specific high precision dedicated CNC needs. “This new space will allow us to work better with larger runs of orders, schedule work more efficiently, and provide better material handling with new equipment,” said Colwell. Lower overhead costs due to the building’s recent updates will also be a contributing factor to a better workflow and higher output for the CNC department overall.
Staff Member Growth
In addition to the company’s pressure vessel fabricators, design engineers and machinists, HOLLOWAY AMERICA recently added a full-time Quality Assurance Inspector in its CNC department to help execute high-process and high-volume runs more efficiently. HOLLOWAY’s new hire will be responsible for creating new procedures and documents for several day-to-day processes, including inspections. Inspections will be carried out in a designated FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and inspection area that will contain all the department’s required tools and documentation.
SHARP Certified
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recently accepted HOLLOWAY AMERICA into the Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP), which was created as part of the US Labor Department’s commitment to assuring safe and healthful working conditions throughout the country. The program certifies employers that have achieved excellent worksite safety and health standards by using OSHA’s services to improve and maintain injury and illness prevention measures.
